## Description

helps Makers around the world focus on creativity and inspirationby providing innovative.
'Geekworm', inspired by 'bookworm', which refer to a person devoted to geek world. We provides motherboard, case, expansion boad, display, cable, tools... we make DIY program more easier and funny.
Why is my SSD not detected?
Most NVMe SSDs work directly. Ensure it's M-key (not SATA). Only avoid Phison controllers (e.g. WD Blue SN550/SN580, Green SN350, Black SN850) unless firmware-updated. Check FFC seating and update the Pi 5 bootloader.
What is the power limit for connected SSDs?
The FFC ribbon provides 5W (5V/1A) max. Some high-performance drives need more. For full stability, simply add a 2-pin cable from the XH2.54 port to the Pi's GPIO (cable not included).
Which SSDs have known compatibility issues?
Only Phison-based SSDs (e.g. WD Blue SN550/SN580, Green SN350, Black SN850) have known issues; the latest firmware often resolves this. Most other drives work perfectly. Check our wiki for updates.
Is PCIe Gen 3.0 speed guaranteed?
No, it's certified for PCIe 2.0, which is sufficient for most projects. You may force Gen 3.0 in the config file, but this is optional and may cause instability with some drives.
My Pi keeps crashing under heavy disk load. Why?
Your SSD likely exceeds the 5W FFC limit during peak loads. The fix is simple: add a 2-pin cable from the XH2.54 port to the Pi's GPIO for stable, direct 5V power.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ NVMe storage made easy on the Pi 5
*by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 29 August 2025*

Picked this up to go with the Geekworm case for a Raspberry Pi 5 home assistant build, and it does exactly what it’s meant to. Fits cleanly, no alignment issues, and once installed it just worked – the Pi recognised the NVMe drive without any drama.Performance is solid, much faster and smoother than running everything off an SD card, and it feels like it really unlocks what the Pi 5 can do. Combined with the case and active cooler, it makes for a tidy, reliable little setup. If you want proper storage on a Pi 5, this board is a no-brainer.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works good, but try your best to confirm compatibility before purchase
*by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 15 March 2026*

Quite a neat little addition to the Pi and boasts potential 2-3x speed increase compared to a USB caddy for an NVMe.Only downside is it didn't work with the SSD I was using initially and it wasn't obvious what the issue was. After some Googling, I found a comment from a user referencing material (I couldn't find) that said the particular Phison (?) NVMe controller could sometimes not function correctly with the hat. After changing out to a new SSD, it just started working perfectly at 8GB/s.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ M.2 NVMe ssd Shield
