This is designed to fit over a 4 inch soil pipe. I bought a pair to fit inside 4 inch soul pipes thinking I could easily buy reducer couplings but I couldn't, its a European size. **Q: I have a 63mm pipe that is pumped, would the pressure of the water easily open the flap. The flap would be fitted on a horizontal p4inch pipe.** A: Hi, I have just fitted these on 100mm drains for rainfall that runs off a garden into a brook. They do easily drain with even a little rainfall and trickle of water. I thought water would backup behind but it doesnt even with a near horizontal pipe. **Q: Looking to stop sewage smells emanating from open drain. If installed horizontally in line at man hole stop this?** A: The flap only opens a few millimetres to allow a small amount of water through per minute, it’s to stop rodent ingress to external discharge pipes only for guttering outlet applications and not foul water discharge such as sewers and grey water from kitchens/bathrooms. Used at the end of a run of new surface water drainage pipe to discharge water from our extension roof into a stream. Took a little bit of force to push on to the 110mm pipe but this was expected in order to form a good, tight seal. Flap operates smoothly so no worries about it not opening/backing up.
