Verilux HappyLight Lucent Light Therapy Lamp, 10,000 Lux, UV-Free LED

I have owned older versions of the Happy Light that had the very delicate bulbs in them and unfortunately, found the bulbs impossible to replace when they broke. Being a naturally clumsy person, but also a person who dislikes creating plastic waste, I ended up, stuck with a couple of old light casings with no bulbs in them. I was happy, no pun intended, to find the newest version is basically a flat panel, kind of like a little iPad. It looks pretty impossible to break, even for a very clumsy person! Besides the convenient size and shape and the less-delicate nature of this flat panel version, one thing I truly like is the physical power button. If a person wanted to, they could set this up next to their bed or on their desk and put it on a timer plug to have it come on at the same time every day — because of that physical button. I tested this idea by turning the light on, and then unplugging it, and then plugging it back in. It works! I don’t do that at this point, because I feel I would be rudely shocked into waking up if I had this bright light come on when my alarm goes off, but figuring out that this is an option because of the physical power button is pretty cool. The only drawback I have noticed, and the only difference I have noticed to the old bulbs is, I always have a flashing afterimage in my eyes from the LED lights for about 10 minutes after I use this panel. Everything has a purple tinge to it for a while until my eyes readjust to either natural or indoor light.So, if you are sensitive to flashing LED lights, this is definitely NOT the light for you. I find it takes at least 20 minutes for my eyes to normalize again, so take that into account when you are planning to use the light. I am generally photosensitive, but because this panel does not emit UV light, I have had zero issues with reactive urticaria when using this light. That, of course, made me quite happy! Referencing my aforementioned clumsiness, I secured this panel on a tablet holder stand next to my bed so that I can pull it across the bed in the morning when I’m sitting and drinking tea or writing, and then move it safely out of the way for the rest of the day. That way, the light is secure and I’m not placing it on flat surfaces when not in use where other things could be stacked on it and crack the screen or casing. For me, that’s been the best way to assure that I’m not going to damage the light. Still no pun intended, I’m happy with the price, I’m happy with the design, and, in spite of the small issue with the flashing/purple afterimages for a bit, I feel happy with the results. The long dark teatime of the soul known as winter this year will be the definitive test to see how well this new light supports my mood and my health. At some point, I plan to compare the effects of my old light with the bulb to this one to see if I have afterimages/flashing, but I don’t think the old one will cause that.

This is my third Verilux Happy Light in 25 years, and I am so pleased with my newest one. I’ve been using Happy Lights now for several years, not only because I deal with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) during the darker months of the year but also because I have extremely fair skin that burns both quickly and easily, even when wearing high SPF sunscreen. As skin cancer runs very highly in my family this lamp helps me to get the necessary “sunlight” without worrying about getting Squamous Cell Skin Cancer or Melanoma. The newest model is much slimmer than my last one and is so much easier to use anywhere in my home or anywhere else. The electrical chord is now separate from the body of the light and functions like a charging cord on an iPad or iPhone which makes the light much more portable. The light is roughly the size of an iPad. There is a detachable stand on the backside of the light which allows the light to stand stationary width ways or length ways on a table or a night stand or can be used without the stand. The portability and easy storage of this new design makes taking the light anywhere I travel so simple (which is a wonderful feature during the winter when my husband and I travel to get out of the cold and snow!) Verilux, which is Latin for “true light”, is the only brand of light therapy lamp that I will buy and use because their Happy Lights are designed and built to last so much longer than other brands. I’m very pleased with the new design and portability of the new One-Touch Light Therapy Lamp

I have been using the Happy Light Lucent for 3 years with consistently good results for season affective disorder. The light is sturdy, reliable with nothing breaking or warping. It makes the cloudy and gloomy Oregon winter weather more bearable. I highly recommend this light.

This light works well and is exactly as described. The quality is good and it provides effective light therapy. However, I was disappointed that there is no option to adjust the brightness and that it does not use USB-C charging. I have purchased other items from the same brand that include brightness settings, timers, and USB-C charging, so I expected similar convenience here. Overall, it is a good product, but those features would make it much better.

I originally bought this for my mother, but it was just too bright for her sensitive eyes (she has had cataracts and has the beginnings of macular degeneration). I will say, it is shockingly bright the first time you see it! My mom couldn't even tolerate it being just on her periphery. So, keep that in mind if you or whomever you are considering this for, has any eye issues. That being said, I still gave it 5 stars because I decided to try it out for myself, and I actually like it a lot! I use it almost every morning and I really do believe it helps me wake up, get energized and betters my mood. I have had low energy and depression issues quite often in my life (been on medication for years), and it does seem to get worse during the winter months. This lamp has really helped reduce the frequency and intensity of those issues. Even my cat likes to lay by it when I'm using it :) I am honestly grateful that my mom could not use this lamp! Side note: After hearing how it has helped me, she now wants to try one that has lower brightness settings. I will be purchasing one for her from this brand (Verilux) in the near future.

I absolutely love this light. My doctor told me to get one because I just couldn’t sleep for years, I have been using it now for about a month and what a difference I can fall asleep and stay asleep. The size is perfect for a desk or a night stand rly anywhere. The stand adjustable and it works great have had no issues. There is not a timer just a power button to run off and on. The light is very bright you can’t adjust it but as long as you don’t look directly at it you’re fine. Definitely buy if you are having sleeping trouble I use it for 20 minutes every morning.

My light arrived very quickly and I am thrilled. It is small and slim, kind of like a smaller tablet. It was easy to set up - just plug in the cord which is smack dab in the middle of the back, a tiny hole. The on/off button is on the top right edge. Warning - the light is BRIGHT. I was kind of put off by how massively bright it is, but... I am enjoying it by keeping it on a table to my side. You do not have to look directly into it ( you can't b/c it is like looking at the sun). It will do its work even if it is just at my side. I journal each morning and like having it on the table beside me. I have noticed an unexpected benefit - I can write without my glasses!!! I wear glasses for everything, but I can see perfectly to read without them when I read or write next to my Verilux. Who knew??? I always go outside and sit in the sun as soon as I get up in the morning, so I can get my day/night hormones set for the day, but now with darker mornings of little or no sun, I feel this light is the perfect solution. I have a friend who uses this light to head off depression related to dark winter days, so that is another benefit I am looking forward to. The price was excellent and I highly recommend this Verilux product. You will not be disappointed!

I was skeptical, but wanted to try this for light therapy, because Wisconsin is not the sunshine State lol After 3 days I noticed a very positive energy and mood shift. I'm really happy that I bought this, because it has helped me. I used it almost every day from 6am-7am for about 3 months, and now when November-April rolls around I'll be ready. I recommend this to others, especially those who live in 'darker' States.

Not even kidding, thing thing has changed my life. I grew up in Southern California and moved to Eastern Canada 6 years ago. For the past couple of years I've been noticing low energy and just overall sadness that would come over me in the winters and I figured it was just the crappy Quebec weather. I then started hearing about Seasonal Affective Disorder a few years back, but didn't think that I had it. Low and behold, the sadness this year got really terrible (and I am a generally happy person), so I decided to get this light (I've heard about these types of lights before) just for the reason that I wanted to get better and wanted to try the light therapy method. I have a background in psychology and I am always extremely skeptical about products that are meant to help and whether the placebo effect goes into play. So I try my best to stay as objective as possible and kind of expect things to not work and then see what happens. Well, this light is incredible. The first morning that I had it, I put it on right after waking up and I gave it 20 min, but it actually annoyed me, so I figured it won't work, but I'll entertain the idea and give it a go at the office. Game changer. I put it on as directed at 10 or 2 at the proper distance from the face for 30 min and actually found it really, very pleasant (but fyi, it is very bright). I then turned it off, and a funny thing started to happen, I started to miss it being on!! I was very surprised. When I put it back on, it was overly stimulating at the 10 or 2 position, but I really wanted it on, so I put it behind me (a foot behind me at about an 8 or 4 position if looking at a clock and 12 being my computer screen). It was amazing. I left it on for 6-8 hours and I couldn't go without it for a week. Now I use it when I feel I need it, so maybe 2-3 hours some days, some more, some not at all. We have had very little sunshine this winter and I recommend to anyone that is even remotely entertaining the thought to try a lamp like this to not even hesitate. It's amazing!!! And this one is the size of a tablet, so it fits anywhere and very light to carry, not flimsy or fragile at all, well built.

This has made a huge difference in my daughter’s life! She is studying ballet/ dance full time in the UK…The dreary weather difference of England from where she is from in America( and the fact that she walked to the school before light, no windows in studios, and walked home after 5pm in the winter) was getting her down. As soon as I got this for her( she used it while she puts on her makeup and eats her breakfast) she felt SO much better- happier and energetic! 😎👍🏻☀️
