Although some may like "precision" torch lighters for their smokes, I prefer a blowtorch like this to not mess around and get my stogie fired up! Speaking of, the most recent issue of Cigar Aficionado had World Class Chef Jose Andres on the cover and in the interview he talks about using an actual blowtorch to light his cigars.........This is a very CLOSE second!!! I own a ton of torch lighters and yes, many times they stop working well soon after purchase so I'm praying this one doesn't do that as I REALLY like it so far. It's heavy & solid with great hand feel and I really like the ability to adjust the flame from a narrow torch to a wider less "concentrated" one. I'm assuming that's why they advertise it as a "dual flame", but technically it's not. A dual flame torch has two separate burners creating two distinct flames while this one does not, but it doesn't matter at all because its almost as wide as a triple or even quad flame! I will say also that I can see why some people have trouble filling it. These days for whatever reason these companies make the fill valve incompatible with the "standard nozzle" on butane cans, so you have to use one of the attachments usually found on the underside of the cap. I think most butane brands come with them these days, but I can see how it's a problem if you do not have them so make sure you get a butane brand that has the little nozzle attachments included; VERY IMPORTANT!!!! Lastly, I truly love the gold finish on mine, its classy looking. I think you could also very easily use this torch for creme brulee and even hobbyist soldering and what not as it seems versatile. For me, two days in and I'm a happy guy with my new cigar torch!!! I'll update this if things go south, but hopefully the gas seals stay good, ignition continues to work, etc. Many times a big problem people have is air bubbles in the gas tank. That is an easy fix by "purging" all the gas and refilling. That has fixed torch lighters I've had in the past 9 out of 10 times. They told me they had not had my experience before with anyone. They immediately replaced my lighter and I'm back to a 5 star review for this product. The people were very easy to work with and I want to thank them. I love my torch/lighter. I highly recommend this lighter to anyone. UPDATE: Below is my first review. I've had the lighter about two months now and I'm not so happy with it. It works great when it works. However, from time to time, it just won't light. I'll fuel it up and click, click, click - nothing. I'll get frustrated, lay it down, and pick up a cheap lighter to get my cigar going. From time to time I'll click the torch - nothing. Then, for some unknown reason, I'll click the torch and it will work perfectly again. I have no idea why it stopped working or why it started working again. So, I've changed my review from 5 stars to 3 stars. I'll see if I can contact the vendor and update again if I figure anything out. This is the best lighter I've ever owned. It truly is a torch-like lighter. You have to calm it down when lighting a cigar or it will burn your face. It has a few switches, i.e. one to lock the flame on in the event you want to use it for soldering, etc., a flame adjustment on the top, and a torch adjustment on the side. What I love about the lighter is 1) the price. This is a deal for the quality of the product. I've paid much more for a far less quality lighter. 2) I sit on my balcony and smoke my cigars. Sometimes there is a strong breeze and sometimes I use a fan. The wind does not faze this lighter. I believe it would light in a hurricane. I tested it inches away from my fan and the lighter fired the flame the fist click. It's an amazing lighter.
