I was worried about reviews that said “it was a beast to port around”. Since I am planning on using this camping most of the time portability is important. I’m 5’10” female with reasonable strength. This chair is not difficult to fold, carry, or move. I brought it on a weekend camping trip and regularly relocated it from campsite to lakeside daily without issue. It is THE most comfortable chair EVER. It even got the hubbie’s seal of approval for cost/quality and that doesn’t come easily as he holds that bar pretty high. It’s a big chair designed to accommodate big people. It’s sturdy and well put together. The moving lumbar pillow is perfect. Use it for lumbar support when sitting upright and as a pillow when reclining. The little table that folds away is perfect for my 30 ounce yeti tumbler with handle, my phone, and my tablet. The table doesn’t appear to be made of wood but rather some sort of metal/plastic material and I don’t foresee it warping due to moisture as some reviewers mentioned. The locking mechanism works well. It’s the only part of the chair that worries me though. If a stronger person forgets the locks are engaged and try to force the chair to move it seems like the locks could break. I don’t know this for a fact though..I just make sure to be aware if the locks are engaged when using the chair and advise anyone who is using it to do the same. The chair has a warning on the label that because the arms are made of wood it shouldn’t be left in the elements all the time. Not a big deal to me as I always put my portable chairs in storage when not in use (so they keep in good condition longer). Overall this is a great chair at a reasonable price and I’m planning on buying another so the Hubbie stops stealing mine.

Comfortable chairs. Fold up like camp chairs. I do wish they were lighter. They’re difficult to carry due to the weight. My daughter does have some difficulty unfolding it at times, could be the teenager in her, but other no complaints there. I’m definitely not disappointed in the purchase. Just wish they were lighter.

This is the second one of these chairs I have purchased and have logged many hours in it over the last two summers. Loved the first one - the backrest is mesh=like in the middle which is great on those hot, humid, sweaty summer days. Actually gets chilly on cooler days so I got this one with a solid backrest. It is SUPER comfy!! Haven't spent an afternoon in it yet, but looking forward to it as I gave it a quick test run and am extremely happy. Very cushy seat and the extra width makes the chair nice and roomy. Looks good too - especially like the "wood" armrest they dress it up wonderfully! I really recommend these chairs. The only negative is that they are a beast. Heavier than one would expect, but I guess that means it is solidly built! Was able to get it when the price had been reduced so also this was a good value.

I'm 6'4" and have never really been truly comfortable in any sort of folding, lawn, or camping chair. This one breaks that trend for sure, I could actually sleep in this thing. It's ALMOST perfectly long enough for this tall guy.... ....I say almost because my head does end up resting right on the top bar, but thankfully the headrest cushion raises up high enough to still provide padding. Still, it would be more comfortable if it was just a couple inches longer, or if the included cushion was a bit thicker or had a firm backing (that would allow it to stick up over top of the bar without feeling as uncomfortable). If I let myself slide down in the chair a bit as a recline back, I can get my head in a more comfortable position, but that makes my feet hang off the end a bit too much.... ...and that actually brings me to the one negative thing I have to say about these chairs -- the footrest area. I ended up needing to spend additional money buying a foam padding cover for the bottom bar so that it is more comfortable, and I just think that this should have been included in the design of the chair. I understand not wanting to have cushioning down there for using the chairs outdoors or with shoes on, but these chairs are so comfortable that wearing them on a porch or even indoors with bare feet is something that people would enjoy using them more if the design was more comfortable for bare feet. Also, would be great if it was a bit longer or had a bit of an adjustable/detachable length at the end of it, because letting feet dangle off the end like this chair does can cause tendon/calve pain, particularly for those with planar fasciitis (hi there!). But yeah, everything else about the chairs are phenomenal. I wish I could give them 4.5/5 because they're so close to perfect. If you're average height or slightly above, you'll have no regrets

We bought Used-Very Good instead of new and it appears brand new. Purchased because tall hubby has some medical issues where he can't lay down all night. At home he likes his leather recliner but we needed something for patio time and some road trips. This fit the bill perfectly since it is portable and lets him sleep in a comfy position. We've had it a year now and keep it covered on the patio during summer and store it in the garage in the winter. It still looks brand new. Would absolutely buy again.

Perfect for sitting and lounging! Very comfortable! Portable, easy to use and sturdy. I feel that my money was well spent! My children as well as my dog were going back and forth about who was going to sit in it.

This chair is incredible! The workmanship and fit and finish is everything you could ask for. If I had paid double the price, I'd still be impressed at this. It looks like it's from one of those high-end boutique patio furniture shops where you'd pay $350 for it. Instead of a long narrative, here are the facts: - Quality is truly top notch. I almost opted for one of the cheap $50 - 60 versions. I'm glad I didn't. Every detail is finished perfectly and it is incredibly sturdy. - it's incredibly comfortable. - it has a mesh back, so it's breathable - no back sweat. But the seat is heavy duty nylon (?), so in a few weeks there won't be a butt-shaped sag like there would be in mesh. - it's really easy to use. Some said it's difficult to get it to recline. I didn't have this issue at all. Not sure how you would have this issue. It has little knobs that let you lock in whatever angle you want to recline in, also. - the pillow is a bit firm as others have mentioned. But this is a good thing because it means it won't be flat as a pancake by the third use. - it folds up as easily as a folding chair and takes minimal space. However, it is HEAVY, so you won't be carting this around to soccer games or to the beach. Park it within a few yards of where you want to use it. - It's plenty wide enough for me (I'm an average size person), but I think it should be wide enough for about 90 to 95 percent of people. The frame is super sturdy.

Okay this isnt a chair you really want to carry around anywhere. It's heavy and awkward to carry, but it's heaviness means it's sturdy and I feel very comfortable it'll hold my weight (altho I'm not that heavy). I find it very easy for it to swing back, if anything I find it goes back too far so I have to stop it a little before it's max. I absolutely love it. I can fold it and bring it inside so it's not outside all the time esp during winter when I won't use it. The table is really handy for my pina colada.. only wish I bought it sooner. Negative: the headrest is not easy to adjust. And it comes off rail and very hard to put back on (I haven't been successful). I expect after some wear it'll become loose so advise to set it once and then not to play with it. Update: hadn't used chair for awhile and suddenly found it hard to lounge back? Forgot there are two locks for the chair under each armrest!! This makes locking the chair extra secure BUT also makes it easy for new people to not know it. Don't forget to remind anyone new sitting in it there are two locks - hate for them to force things and break it (I did put in some force into reclining but thankfully didn't break the chair before I realized I still had one of the locks on)

After after our 20+ years old Lafuma chairs began failing, we started looking for another comparable brand (Lafuma's are pretty expensive now), perhaps something with a bit of padding. There were lots of things we liked about the Portal chairs; combined padding & breathable mesh, easily adjustable headrest (works great for lumbar support), included side table & colour options. I was hesitant about the XL sizing but there was not a "regular" size available so we went with it anyway. The quality is really excellent - they are beautifully finished and the adjustable headrest solution is genius (it just slides to where you want without fiddling with those annoying elastic back straps). The cushioned seat/mesh back is comfortable but not too hot and the side table stays nicely balanced when you adjust the chair. But a couple of things to note: (1) I am on the shorter/slighter side and find the XL a bit too large to be really comfortable. I find it awkward to push the chair into a reclining position - certainly not as smoothly as the Lafuma - and it is not possible to sit fully back and have my legs align naturally with the angles of the chair. My husband, on the other hand, absolutely loves it. I'll keep working on finding my comfort zone. (2) The Portal chair uses a locking system to position the degree of recline vs. the Lafuma friction system which just adjusts effortlessly. If you forget to lock your position, moving will jolt you upright pretty quickly. If you don't disengage the lock before starting to return to an upright position, it's pretty rough. I assume if that happens too many times, the mechanism will be stripped. Overall, this is an excellent quality chair and will, I'm sure, provide many years of use.

Great chair. Big enough, not heavy. Easy to recline. I like the small tray, I use it a lot. Very comfortable.

The chair is fantastic. Yes it's big but very comfortable to sit in or to sleep in. Lots of room around you. It will be used at the cottage so I will see what happens after time. All of the family love it. One thing that would of made it even better if there was a locking mechanism for the table when not in use. Definitely recommend it!!!!

I'm 6'2" and 270lbs. The chair size is perfect and reclining has me wanting to nap on the spot. The attached tray is nice but not a reason why I bought the chair. Most regular chairs feel small, this one doesn't. Sitting down, I don't feel like I might hit the floor.
