It's soft enough to be comfortable when used, pliable enough to configure to conform to support upper or lower extremities, and able to be cut to size with regular scissors if necessary. The bright orange color makes it easy to find, and it folds back up easily for storage. It has easy to understand diagrams showing several ways to apply the splint printed on it for ready reference, and the splint doesn't need to be removed for xrays. It doesn't come with straps or tape however, so you'll want to pack self-adhesive tape or some Velcro straps in your kit to secure the splint in place with. This is a handy addition to our camping first aid kit! Review: Mine has a cut down it which sucks. So, I have given it 4-stars. Plus, would be better if it had some sort of straps to hold it on. Two straps (velcro?) would be greatly appreciated. Now, thus a nice splint and it folds nicely but mine having this slash down it does degrade the integrity and strength of the splint. But; the padding helps cushion the skin and the leg (or arm). But I feel a peace of mind knowing we have it if a circumstance ever does arise where it is needed. The foldable nature of this splint makes it compact for packing into first aid and trauma bags. It seems like it will be effective as a temporary splint for injuries to limbs and even reusable in most cases. I just wish it came with something to tie or strap it on.
