All defects would not have passed a quality control check. Hard to open at first. Impossible actually. My finger is bruised. I had to get a wet cloth with a dry cloth and pry it open. There were also fingerprints that will not wipe out. Like the acrylic was warm when they handled it. We could use it but it's a gift and expensive for being so poorly made. I understand defects in acrylic but this is all human error and not caring enough about what they are doing to ship an acceptable item. I would consider reordering hoping to get one that is made well. The screws are tiny but if they strip out in time, I'm sure clear crazy glue would be adequate to hold the board together. Another bonus is the thick, velvety storage bag. It's beautiful and will protect the board when not in use. Fun and clear board. But make it right or don't ship it to people. Melt it down and try again.
