Drawers slide in and out easily and have a stop to prevent then falling out-easily overcome by sqeezing the two drawer sides together at back. They are a bit flimsy so I would not put anything too heavy in them. Sturdy yet light, and feels well made. Each drawer does hold a ream of paper, but remove the wrapper from the paper first. It's pretty damn tricky to get a solid ream out of the drawer. The drawers can also curve upwards in the middle. I assume it's just the nature of the materials it's made with and hopefully it will flatten out in time with paper weighing it down.
