Denzel Washington is Robert McCall, an ex-assassin with a mysterious past, who returns to action to serve vengeance for the exploited and oppressed. Finding himself surprisingly at home in Southern Italy, he discovers his new friends are under the control of local crime bosses. As events turn deadly, McCall knows what he has to do: become his friends’ protector by taking on the mafia. Review: A great way to bow out and say farewell - The fact that this movie had come about so quickly took me by surprise. There I was in early 2023, wondering if a third The Equalizer movie was going to happen, and I checked online to see if a final one was possible. I was totally grateful for the two movies that had come already, and had them both on U.S. blu ray, and I didn't long for a third, because I thought it might be pushing it. But I learned that a third movie was in production or had just completed production. When I got around to seeing the trailer, I was even more surprised and I had high hopes for it. I knew that it would be different from the previous two. The original established the character brilliantly for the big screen, the sequel was far more personal, and I was full of anticipation for what a third movie would be like. From the trailer, it looked incredible. I went to see it on its autumn 2023 release and I loved it. It did go into a slightly different direction and it had a completely different setting, but the character and the story remained true and for me, it was a wonderful bookend to a great journey. I am so glad they did a third movie so quickly, certainly quicker than I thought, and that it didn't drop the ball at all or lose its way. Denzel Washington is one of the few actors who I trust to not ever let me down and have the integrity to keep things interesting and to deliver. This is probably the last entry for The Equalizer, but I cannot think of a better way to bow out and say farewell. Thanks, Denzel, you gave us such a great ride.
