Hugely helpful at the gym *by C***T on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 22 June 2023* I wanted something to help with my recovery from an ankle fracture as I stopped using the walking boot and sought the confidence to get back to my normal way of walking without grave concerns about injuring myself again.A review on another ankle brace/stirrup recommended this one instead as it was said to greatly reduce the likelihood of you rolling your ankle so I gave it a shot. The recommended medium size for my shoe size was a good fit for me. It fits quite snugly without rubbing or making me worried I'll form blisters and I can take steps almost normally without worrying that my ankle will collapse or roll under my leg again.The brace is small enough for me to get into shoes, trainers and boots about walk about wearing them.EDIT: Since my recovery has progressed enough for me to start putting impacts against my ankle again, I've been able to start running and going to the gym with the brace and work on strength training. The brace has been brilliant in helping me on the road to full fitness whether I'm weight machine training, step jumping or using the cross trainer.Being able to pitch and yaw my foot without being able to roll it is exactly the range of motion I wanted from this brace so I'm absolutely delighted with the purchase. I had been suffering from acute tendonitis for many months and using my own figure of eight straps to no avail. I went months between seeing a doctor and their follow up appointments and was in absolute agony every step I took, walking to work, shops, doing my job etc. I had started to injure my other foot by over-compensating, had back and hip problems and was stooping like an old lady. I happened upon this brace as I searched the internet, desperate for any help. The Andy Murray connection helped and the reviews were good. I didn't hold out much faith though, having been in so much pain, but I was wrong, this brace is absolutely amazing! I put a sock underneath it, like many reviewers have, and it holds the tendons in the right place while they heal. It enabled me to start putting weight back on the foot, painful at first, but easing all the time and, after a week, the relief was unbelievable! I started to go back to the gym and it is supportive enough to do cross training, cycling etc and allow me to walk to work without being out of my mind with agony. At night time (I think someone else mentioned) tendonitis can be at its worst, but if you wear the cast you get out of bed pain free. About a month on, and my pain has minimised to about 5% what it was without the cast. I am going to buy another one so I have a spare, and also one for my right foot just in case.
