Got wet and now the back pages are stained and stink. I want to recover but will this work to rid it of the stains/smell?** A: These sponges are very soft and bendy. We found it difficult to clean the front cover of a hardback. I cant imagine trying to use it on the fragile pages of a bible. But it seemed to work OK *by J***M on August 17, 2020* Someone gave us a very old, discolored book with minimal spots of mildew, but it mainly just looked dirty. So ordered this set. The sponge seemed to work the best. I tore a couple of pages using the stuff in the tub....I say stuff because when I opened it up, it smelled exactly like play doh. Not just a little. Exactly. I had my husband close his eyes and asked him to sniff and tell me what it was and he said play doh. That being said, it worked fine on the cover. It crumbles and gets all over the place, but it turned the stuff black so I know it was removing dirt.
