Living in Florida, needed the larger ice packs, so I was pretty excited to try out the extra large ice blocks. You need at least 4 to get 80 gallons of water down 20 degrees in temperature. The size of the ice blocks is great – they last a pretty long time, which is perfect for those hot, humid days. The mold itself is easy to fill, and I appreciate the simplicity of the design. But....getting the ice out is a bit of a hassle. Sometimes the blocks don’t release easily, and I have to run the mold under warm water, which kind of defeats the purpose when you’re trying to keep things cold. Plus, it takes up a lot of freezer space, so if you’ve got a smaller freezer, be prepared to rearrange things. Overall, the ice blocks are fantastic when you finally get them, but the effort to get them out and the space it takes up are definite drawbacks.
