Particularly, I was interested in learning more about turbulent flow, shockwaves, detonation, and more advanced topics in Fluid Dynamics for a course in the theory of supernovae. This book excellently and thoroughly covers these topics both in a mathematically sound and excellent way, as well as well-describing the phenomenology behind the explained topics. The book is simply, excellent, and most of the reviewers have already commented on the advantages of having a book that references thermodynamics very early on, that has solved example problems, and it covers a huge breadth of topics in excellent detail. I would not recommend this textbook to an undergraduate trying to learn fluid dynamics for the first time, unless they were very thorough and advanced in their coursework (probably a senior or junior level undergraduate looking to go on to study physics in graduate school). Excellent reference, excellent pedagogical writing style. I cannot say anything bad about this book! Review: Very thoughtful book - It is the book on fluid mechanics I've enjoyed the most.
