Review: I bought this to recover from a total knee replacement. I’ve had multiple scopes, rotator-cuff surgeries, and other ortho procedures, and I’m done dragging around a cryo cuff with ice and water—too loud, messy, and awkward post-op. Enter the Hyperice X Knee. I wanted an occasional alternative to the ice machine, but it’s better than expected. It’s easy to turn on, cools quickly, and holds a precise, consistent temperature—never froze my incision—and I could keep it on longer without discomfort. Battery life beat my expectations, and the extra-long power cord made it easy to move around the house. The iOS app is handy and kind of cool: you can set temperature and run a Cold Therapy routine up to 20 minutes. You can’t run it indefinitely—understandable for safety reasons—but at night I can skip the app and press a couple of buttons on the device to start a 15-minute cold session. Super convenient for middle-of-the-night relief. Since getting it, I haven’t used my old ice machine once. Bottom line: for post-surgery recovery, this has been a surprisingly perfect solution even though that’s not its primary marketing angle. I’m using it as I write this and couldn’t recommend it more. Review: This is a great device that does what it advertises. The cold is quite cold and the warm is very warm, if not hot. It is great to have for routine treatment of inflammation or relief after workouts. If you have bad knees (ACL, meniscus tear, arthritis, etc) the ability to sit down and immediately have cold or warm therapy is fantastic. While there is certainly a place for ice and compression devices (I have several) this does the trick for short sessions without the hassle of ice cubes. Is a device that you need? No. But, it is a device that is convenient and works in seconds? Yes! The battery is long enough for several sessions and it is easy to plug in to use if you are out of battery life. There are two downsides: 1) there are 3 sensors in the front that cool or warm your knee so your entire knee (front and back will not be treated) 2) if you have short, thicker legs, the device will be tight. Extension straps are included. Some people have commented that their Hyperice X stopped working after a while. For this reason, I purchased the desertcart extended warranty. A small price for peace of mind. If for some reason I lost this device, I would definitely purchase another one. In fact, I’m thinking about getting a second for my other knee. 😀

....and that's - get hot and cold. Contrast hydrotherapy is a simple yet effective way to speed up healing and improve circulation to the affected area. The problem is, it's a nuisance to apply a heating pad, then a cold pack, then a heating pad, etc. This unit does it for you, thus making it much more likely that you'll actually do it. It gets cold but I wish it got a bit colder. It gets very hot, hotter than I need (but it's adjustable, so not a problem) The quality is very good, it's easy to use, and the app is simple. I'm very happy with it. I use mine everyday and it's great.
