Review: A really nice coffee table book :) - My Alphonse Mucha book arrived quickly before it's given E.T.A. packaged very safely bubble wrapped inside a 'dent proof' cardboard carton along with a free bookmark ( book is recessed within carton away from corners so as to avoid dings if the box should be dropped - a nice touch ). The book itself was less than half the price Waterstones are currently selling it for which is great , the pictures within are in great detail and colouring ( i'm unsure why a couple of prior reviews are negatively written re the colour and picture quality perhaps they were unlucky to have received a poor print run copy , the pictures themselves are accurate to the paintings Alphonse created some 129 years ago I guess if you want more colour saturation you would have to digitally enhance his work :) A lovely large book I'd definitely recommend and Ill certainly use Postcript books ago thanks . Review: Beautiful - Mucha was a supreme example of what became known as Art Nouveau. This volume of his works is superbly written and presented. The illustrations are magnificent, and the text and captions to the many illustrations are scholarly and meaningful.. My favourite is his classic portrayal of that great actress Sarah Bernhardt, which created a sensation when first revealed when she performed as Gismondai in Paris in 1894. I recommend this fine work to all readers who appreciates the use of colour and design in fine ar.
