Great bits but the index is garbage
I have a small metal fab shop at my house so needless to say, drill bits are essential! Over the years I've tried everything from cheap bits from Harbor Freight, to name brands like DeWalt, and premium brands like Viking. What I've found is that even the absolute best bits money can buy still suffer from breakage and will dull and need to be resharpened with prolonged use. Surprisingly enough some of the cheaper bits have proven to actually cut faster than ones costing MUCH more though they usually dull much faster. A couple of years ago I purchased a set of these drill bits just as a cheap spare set to have around and I found that fairly often they were the ones I reached for. That's why I recently purchased a second set and will probably continue to purchase these bits. Here are some of the things I've found...Positives1) Out of the box they are VERY sharp. The angles are consistent, the point is centered, and the reliefs all look good.2) Through mild steel, some alloys (Chromoly, stainless, etc), plastics, aluminum, etc, they cut FAST! They are almost too aggressive for Aluminum and will bind up easily if you don't keep the bit and material cool (more on that later)3) They stay sharp a long time if treated properly. Use a good cutting fluid (I prefer Anchorlube and recommend it highly!) and use the proper speed and pressure like you would with any cutting tool and they will last a long timeNegatives1) These bits are VERY prone to breakage. If the pressure isn't applied in a direct line or if the bit binds in the material you're drilling through they will snap easily.2) They will cut through hardened steel but not easily and the bit will almost always suffer damage and it's extremely hard to get the bit started. If you plan on drilling through hardened steel be prepared to always have a pilot hole (even for the smallest bits), use plenty of cutting fluid, and go slow. This is not really a knock on the bits because hardened steel is tough on any bit but if you don't know to expect this you will ruin bits quickly.3) This is probably me nitpicking but while the bits themselves are excellent the drill index is absolute GARBAGE! It's made from extremely flimsy sheet metal that bends and warps with even the slightest pressure. The "hinges" are merely divots stamped into the case. The index on my first set would bind up frequently but at least managed to hold together. On the most recent set the inner trays popped off their "hinges" (stamped divots that they pivot on) literally the first time it was opened. If you are just purchasing these as replacements for an old set and already have a good drill index this isn't a problem, otherwise be prepared to need some sort of good storage for these bits. Quick tip...if you have a 3d printer or know someone who does, there are SEVERAL excellent drill storage designs that can be downloaded for free and printed for just a few cents worth of filament. I've printed many for myself and my friends. So for the price, I definitely consider these bits to be a good deal and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them with the caveat about the drill index

Fine set in a sturdy secure case!
Used this set multiple times for a variety of projects. The drill bits are useful and sharp and the hard shell case is a nice bonus. Only needed these for wood applications, untested on other materials except some vinyl siding. Cuts quickly and cleanly. Seems to be a high quality set! I would buy again. Updated review: bits drill through hard metals without any issues. Also, none have broken or worn out with repeated use. Really just as good, probably better, than other higher priced brands I've purchased!
