I just wish my son hadn't made swiss cheese out of my ceiling, LOL I did not have a stud finder and when I observed him just blindly drilling into the ceiling I told him to stop. I saw that the base of this only required for mounting screws that would all fit on one said theoretically. I did not know I had to explain how to find the stud that did not require my ceiling drilled but nevertheless it got put up. The bar or pipe comes in sections so that you can hang it from different levels. I have standard ceilings in my home and only used the base and the part that connects to the TV and between them one pipe. Very sturdy and all the connecting pieces appear to be well made and able to hold everything together.
