I didn’t know what to get in ways of magnetic cleaner that would work with my tank because of the slight curve. It’s good because I have a lot in the tank and some sides are occupied so I can disconnect the magnet and let the inside part float the surface and then use the magnet to pull it around objects and then carefully reconnect the magnet through the glass. But there are other smaller versions designed for a acrylic fish tank. Make sure you get the one made for acrylic and rated for your size tank or you will have a very badly scratched tank. **Q: Would this work in a bowl or no?** A: No this would not work in a bowl. Needs a flat surface for the tiny short Velcro like bristles to make contact with the glass. **Q: what size is best for 36 bowfront. also your supposed to leave it in the tank?** A: By 36 I guessing that's gallons? If so I'd say the small or med. would be good. I do leave mine in the tank & just have up on the side out of the way. **Q: Is it safe for acrylic tanks and won't scratch it up ?** A: This is for Glass Only!
