That is important because where my filter is there is a bar almost directly below the filter that makes it extremely difficult to get out for a typical size filter. So I went on the search for a shorter one and since I found these I've been using them only. I also like the material at the bottom that allows you to get a good grip on them to tighten or loosen even if your hands or tool gets slippery from the oil.
