## Description

Get protection on the water with the Kidde Fire Extinguisher for Boats, Single-Use 1A10BC, designed to stop marine fires involving trash, wood, paper (Class A), liquids and gases (Class B), and electrical equipment (Class C). The simple & reliable operation is designed to combat fire hazards using the PASS (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep) firefighting method, with a reach of 4 to 6 feet. Constructed from lightweight, durable aluminum, it includes an easy-to-read pressure indicator, corrosion-resistant metal valve assembly, and ergonomic, rust and impact resistant steel handle, ideal for years of service on the water. A strap bracket makes it easy to mount for quick access in an emergency, and the easy-to-pull safety pin design ensures fast activation. Dispose & replace if used, discharged, or if the fire extinguisher is over 12 years old. UL Listed. 12-year limited manufacturer's warranty. Note that the dry chemical agent in this fire extinguisher is non-toxic but may cause skin irritation. Recreational boats over 26 feet may require more than one fire extinguisher. Review: If you have a boat then these are the ones you need - I bought these fire extinguishers to replace the ones on my boat that just reached their 12 year expiration date. These are US Coast Guard approved and comply with the safety equipment requirements aboard US flagged recreational boats. They are excellent quality and a reasonable price. Note that if you are replacing existing fire extinguishers that still appear to be in good condition you can keep the old ones on board as backups as long as you have the required number of current extinguishers on board as well. Remember that the USCG requirements are a bare minimum. Old extinguishers are most likely still good if all of the following check out: A.) The pressure gauge indicates that there is adequate pressure (i.e.- needle is in the green region) B.) The overall condition of the cylinder, nozzle and handle are still like new (no rust, dents, corrosion) C.) When you shake the fire extinguisher it should feel like it is full of fine sand. If the powder has solidified into a clump the easiest way to break it up again is to rotate the cylinder 90 degrees from how it had been sitting and then wait a few hours and check it again (if extinguisher was stored vertically then lay it on its side or vice -versa) After a few hours the powder should have unclumped and you should feel it moving around when you shake it. This is a good thing to do with all of your fire extinguishers both on your boat or at home as it will ensure that they work properly when needed. I routinely check all of mine about every 6 months. Great value for the money. They're not heavy either which is nice. Thankfully I haven't had to use them and hope never to.

This brand has set the standard in small fire extinguishers for a long time. These were replacements for the ones that have been on my boat for more than a decade. Value comes from the fact that you can rely on them. The size remained standard so I could have used the old brackets but the plastic gets brittle after a while so I use the new brackets that came with these. The holes didn't line up exactly so I had to drill one more hole but other than that, nothing more to do for another 12 years!
