Is the nut supposed to go through the bolt completely? Or have i received wrong size of bolt or nut?

The nut is supposed to me the same thread size as the bolt. There is also a washer that must be used to spread the load. If the bolt does not go through the nut and washer completely, then they are not matched with each other. This is a really well designed and made bed. There are different sizes in the kit, make sure that they are all the right size together as a set.

Is the headboard sturdy enough for one to lean back against it and read in bed, IF the bed/headboard is not resting against a wall? will it break?
