Thanks** A: Really depends on how often you will get into the cooler. Also, will there be ice in the cooler as well or just the blocks? Arctic recommends the same weight in blocks as you would use in ice. I live in Texas and use them in my Pelican 45 all the time. I would suggest at least 4 of the 5lb blocks, more if you fit them in, that's the equivalent of 2 bags of ice. Also, the combo of the blocks and ice works really well if ice is ok with what you're putting in the cooler, both the ice and the blocks seem to last longer with both in there. REALLY IMPORTANT: make sure you pre-chill the cooler. You can do this by putting a block or a bag of ice in the cooler about 30 min to an hour before you put your other items in. Make sure you take that block or the wet ice out and replace with fresh before filling the cooler and everything will last longer. **Q: I'm a fedex delivery driver. our trucks get hot. will this last in an insulated lunch box?** A: I used mine in a very insulated cooler and it kept things cold during our 6 hour road trip. I am guessing your truck gets hotter than my car did though.
