Have not been able to use is?** A: It is over designed. I am about to send one back for doing that but I am pretty sure it is the motion switch interfering with normal on off operation. Mine will do that depending on what angle I hold it. Like coil up, down or level. If it turns on and starts immediately falsing like it does 75% of the time, turn it coil up and coal down several times like it is in dive mode, I can also smack it and it will move the motion switch and it will start working. Doing the recommended fix will not work of the motion switch is in the wrong place and or malfunctioning. It will act like it is froze up with just the red light flashing, it goes into dive mode when you try the reset since the stars are not aligned correctly. If you again turn it coil up and coal down several times it will/may start acting better. While playing with it and answering questions I have decided it is going back. **Q: Mine makes a clingy sound when i tilt up and down to activate the detection mode. also, i did not get the silicon o-ring grease. return?** A: The sound is from the Motion Switch which controls the Diving Mode (buttons will be useless under high water pressure will ) You can read the diving mode page for more info. **Q: Can this distinguish between ferrous and non ferrous?** A: I don’t know.
