I want to treat them more like a flood light and turn them on and off.** A: For residential application, in short, yes there are many ways, including RF, BLUETOOTH, and even Wifi remote controls. There is also an outlet for external battery supply, in my experience the lithium-ion battery that it comes with works fine even in moderate shade and cloudy days in north east of US. The built-in, light+motion sensor, and power-consumption settings that allow to calibrate the device work really well. At the end of the day I did not find the need for remote control. The first unit did not function properly. I contacted the company and they replaced it quickly. Overall, the unit is well built. Made of metal and not plastic. Asides from the first unit being defective, the only issue that I had is during the dead of winter and for a 3 week period ( and I am in a northern climate), the light output was weak if we had a prolonged period of clouds. I will add a secondary panel to help with the issue.Overall this was the best solar light that I have ever bought. Worked great in the late fall and spring. I put the light in an area where adding power would have been very expensive.
