Daily Word Ladders

英語で書かれた小学生低学年向けの本位読めるようになりたいという人、文字数の少ない単語でも知らない単語があるので知りたいという人、本物の英語を身につけたい、という人向け。高校受験や、大学受験用ではありません。 3－4文字単語の綴りと意味の違いを定着させたい、という場合は役立ちます。でも、（高校）受験には不必要な英単語が沢山載っています。（英語圏の幼稚園児用ですが） hog、rag、mule、rob、cop、cot、pit、mope、pep、mole、tameなどなど。 小4の子が取り組んでいます（英語塾には行かず）。 高校受験に必要な最低1500単語ほどを知ったところで、絵本でも読めないものがあります。重要3000語＋日常的な名詞でやっと小学校低学年向けの本が読める（のもあるかな）。小学卒業までに3000語覚え、中学生時に簡単な本を読むことで語彙を増やしていくのが理想です。 中学校の授業で出てくる単語は試験の為に覚え、読書で他の単語も覚え、中学卒業までに6000語ほど覚えるのが理想です。 高校生では9000－10000語ほどに増やせたら、英語が楽しくなるのでは、と期待しています。 子どもは読書が好きで、国語の読解問題が得意です。言葉に対する興味・関心が高く日本語での言葉遊びも好きです。そんな子なので、このワークのシステム→ヒントを読んで1文字変えて違う単語に変えていき単語を覚える、が合っているようです。cotで寝るcatが毛をcutされた、とか、mopをもってmopeな気分で掃除をするとかいう風に、日本語をまじえて一緒に楽しく語彙を増やしています。ただし定着には繰り返しが必要なので、コピーをとって最終的には6－7回繰り返す予定でいます。

I’m a retired teacher homeschooling my grandkids. I have used various grade levels of these Word Ladders for the past three years and I love them! They encourage thinking, grow vocabulary, improve spelling, and my grands enjoy them. I highly recommend these Word Ladder books!

Great idea to boost kids academic performance. Fun and educational. Require good lateral thinking.

Very clever idea! My student really enjoys these. Strengthens skills in spelling, vocabulary, and reasoning/ problem solving. The book icludes tips on how to make the language more accessible for younger students/ pre-reading level. Such as; reading aloud for students, writing the answers in random order where student can see and copy, etc. Additionally, worksheet can be done entirely aloud or teacher can write the answera for students who cannot write, there are many creative ways to use these, depending on the need. We came back here to buy the next book in the series. I hope they expand the series, these are very helpful brain teasers for a wide age range. Really nice. Highly recommend.
