## Description

Product Description The Kidde Heat Detector, Hardwired with Battery Backup & 2 LEDs, Interconnectable, model HD135F, is an AC/DC powered heat alarm that operates on your home's 120V power source. In the event of a power failure, the Kidde heat alarm comes equipped with a 9-Volt battery backup (included). Using heat sensing technology, the wired heat alarm detects temperatures rising above 135⁰ Fahrenheit, alerting homeowners to dangerous temperatures unlike a smoke alarm, which only detects smoke. Heat detectors are recommended for areas where a smoke alarm may not be appropriate, such as in a kitchen, garage, attic, or other area where smoke or dust may set off a false alarm on a smoke detector. Installing both smoke and heat detectors in a home can provide extra protection while triggering fewer nuisance alerts. The heat alarm includes a quick-connect power harness to make installation fast and easy. An 85-decibel alarm sounds when the high temp sensor detects elevated heat conditions. Two LEDs indicate the heat sensor alarm's status: a green LED is constantly 'on' when AC power is present, and a red LED will flash every 30-40 seconds to indicate that the heat alarm is operating properly; the red LED and will flash rapidly when the unit is sounding until air temperature is reduced. The Kidde heat detector can be used as a single unit or interconnected with up to 24 Kidde devices (18 of which can be initiating) in a multiple-station arrangement, not exceeding the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) limit of 18 initiating devices (smoke, heat, CO). It is possible to interconnect 6 strobe lights and or relay modules. Ideal for garages. UL Certified with a 5-year limited warranty. From the Manufacturer The Kidde 120-Volt AC Hardwire Heat Alarm gives you and your family an early warning to dangerous temperatures of 135-Degree F or more. This unit can be used as a single station unit or it can be interconnected to up to 24 Kidde devices in a multiple station arrangement. The interconnect system should not exceed the NFPA interconnect limit of 12 smoke alarms and or 18 initiation alarms. The heat detector includes a tamper resist pin to help deter tampering or theft.

Review: At Least it Doesn't Randomly Go Off - Hard to judge a product that has never encountered the situation it was designed for but I can tell you what it does right. This alarm does not go off randomly like our hard-wired Kidde system did. The interconnected five unit Kidde system installed two years ago by our contractor has been nothing but problems. The main unit would go off which, by design, would trigger the other four. I replaced the batteries with 10 year lithium so it was not the batteries. I tried turning the power off the units with no effect. Running a huge floor fan pointed directly at the main unit helped. Finally, we removed the main unit and installed this one. False alarms stopped.
Review: If you have a commercial stove, this is for you - Most houses when they are built are usually fitted with the absolute minimum required photo sensitive fire detectors. Newer houses also have a carbon monoxide detector built in, which has a limited life and has to be replaced more often. For the kitchen or kitchen living space, if you have a gas stove or you bake foods using high heat a lot, chances are you'll get some smoke. The single photo sensitive detectors will often go off with false positives When I spoke to Kiddie, they recommend this detector for spaces where by-products of gas cooking or high heat cooking smoke will set off a standard detector. For me, I have a Thermador 6 burner pro range and even with a 1200 cfm hood, I got a lot of smoke detector false positives. I swapped out the original Kiddie for this one and it is plug and play. I did not have to wire. I just unplugged the old and plugged in the new. Depending on the original detector, you might also have to swap out the base plate. I just loosened the screws on the electrical box, twisted off the old and then reversed the process. All up, the work required was about 10 minutes and I now have a smoke detector (actually it detects high heat over smoke) that does not go off every other day. I additionally installed a plug in carbon monoxide detector, so that I don't have to replace my smoke (heat) detector every 10 years.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works great

Fits perfectly with the Kidde smoke detector wire harness. Used this to replace the smoke detector closest to the kitchen. Rest of the house is still smoke detectors, but the dog is happy the detector isn’t going off every time we cook something.
