If you place a cover over your drink and press slightly they provide a nice seal, however don't pick up by the decorative knob as it is not made to be carried around, and you may spill your drink or break the cup. The little tab on the side works well to break the seal and lift off the cover. The knobs come separate, but push in easily. I like this because you can take them out and clean well if necessary. Great colors.
