You have to soak it till it becomes soft and then squeeze out excess water dust sticks to it very well better than a cloth or duster that creates dust bunnies that fly. The best part when you rinse it the dust leaves easily. I also purchased the rectangular sponge kind of thing which seems to be similar materila that took gets hard when dry and it cleans dust well but its very difficult to wash of the dust that is already looking so dirty.
