My old vortex pack flipped open towards me, which did not work for me. I have a rather large beard and the lid flipping towards me, just got caught up in my beard and wouldn't stay open. This pack the lid flips forward and down out of the way. So you can keep it open while sitting in the stand for easy, quick access. I love that it comes with the rangefinder pouch. I actually had to buy a new rangefinder because mine wouldn't fit. It was really old and really big. Some advice....put the rangefinder pouch on the opposite side of your dominant hand. I am right handed and initially had it on the right side, and it interfered with my crossbow and rifle. Do not buy the vortex holster for this pack. Really bad connection with only one snap that does not stay snapped.
