The board was needed because my motherboard would not supply the wattage needed for the laser and the adapter corrected this. To use the adapter, you will need the correct cable to go to the adapter board from your motherboard, then use the supplied cable from Laser Tree to go from the adapter board to the laser. The driver's pin assignment was not the same than as the laser. Therefore, i needed to swap the cables.
