Spending a little bit extra means that the sides are made from metal and the handle feels more sturdy. The case came wrapped in a plastic bag inside a cardboard box which did not seem to offer much in the way of protection. Mine was a "warehouse deal" as it had 2 deep scratches from something which had gone through the packaging. I am fine with this, as I am sure I will add some scratches of my own in time. Is this case a briefcase with spaces/compartments in lid for pens, paper etc? Or is it more a tool box ?** A: It's a bit of a hybrid. It's deeper than a 'standard' attache case but the other dimensions are about the same. There are pockets in the lid for pens, 'phone, papers etc. Definitely not a toolbox. **Q: How do we change the combernation on the case? no instructions in the case or packaging** A: It is really easy. The case is usually delivered with the code set at 000 on each side. Starting from there, you should be able to open the lock. To do that you press the catch towards the outside (that is to say left or right as appropriate). To change the code, start with the locks set at the current combination (000) and instead of pressing to the "outside" push the catch towards the middle and hold it there.
