We all know this, one soft fall and those joycons are NEVER holding tight to the device again which, horrifying as the thing falling out of your hand is never something you want. I replaced the set in mine as I was swapping out my joycon to a custom shell and holy crap, worth every second of effort. The play you had with the plastic latches where they seem to kinda have wiggle, absolutely gone. Suddenly your switch feels like it's a solid cohesive piece. I truly love these so much that I took the second pair and put them in my aftermarket joycons. They were maybe a 10 minute install for each pair, the way these will stay latched to your device in a way you'd never see from the OEM clips, wish nintendo had thought to use these themselves. Highly recommend buying them, I honestly did not use their screwdriver too much but the one time i had to I was very pleased, I just am techy and happen to have a set of nicer screwdrivers that fit better in my hand.
