Review: Great book with a lot of projects - I've always like the work of Sunshine Cobb and this book did not disappoint. It has projects in it that are easy to follow and lots of other good suggestions, like keeping dust down in the studio and how to make magic water. Good for beginners as well as people who have been doing pottery for awhile. Review: I have found some very helpful tips for slab building I haven't used before but am eager to try. - I am an experienced potter and hand builder by choice. I really like the environmental friendliness of hand-building (no waste, and no water needed), and the variety of building styles that can be incorporated. I also enjoyed some of the projects that I found in the book, which gave me a whole new perspective on how to hand build new projects that I'm eager to try for the first time. There were also many other helpful tips on exercises to help maintain muscle stability and avoid repetitive use injury, as well as studio tips and much more. A really comprehensive book that encompassed much more than just building projects!

This is by far the best book on hand building I have ever seen or owned. I highly recommend it to every potter whether you hand build or throw on the wheel. Even wheel throwers will gain tips and knowledgeable in site. The author, Sunshine Cobb, is a young, gifted potter, who will go down in the history of the clay world as one of the best in the business. Her interviews with other potters is a nice touch. Her step by step guide is easy to follow and understand. The bonus...there are templates! Buy this book, you will not regret it. A very small price to pay for all that is jam packed in this publication.

Fabulous book , if you like hand building or just want to understand it more get this book
I first found it online as an ebook through my university but decided I really wanted a hard copy of it. Very simple, clearly written introduction. Including care of the potter, care of brain space as well as the studio space. You might want to check the library first but in the end you will likely want to own. Clearly written, well illustrated. Would love it if the patterns were full size but that is a bit much to ask these days and we can all likely access the ability to size them up. Enjoy.
