This was recommended by a friend to help release the muscles, and I have to say I was extremely dubious about an odd-looking black rubber triangle. I was less impressed still when this strange looking heavy lump turned up. Still I persevered and then realised why it was heavy duty, it needs to be to bounce off the walls without damage when you throw it. Boy do you know when you get it in the right place, It hurts !. Its just the right weight to be stable on the floor and the heavy duty rubber has just enough give to stop it bruising the skin whilst remaining rigid enough to do its stuff in the deep muscle. All in all, it does a brilliant job at releasing those muscles as long as you realise this will and should hurt. I’ve been using it about three times a week for the last month and its helped with my breathing, the stiffness in my upper back and the tension in my shoulders and back. Its also helping with a trapped nerve in one arm. To be fair the pain lessens as you continue to treat yourself and the muscles aren’t so solid, but every now and then your body will surprise you with a point that will make your eyes water and this rubber triangle fly ! Ive used it when im getting a migraine (mine are caused by my neck muscles and trapped nerves rather than anything else) and whilst it hasn’t stopped them, it has lessened their severity and shortened their duration. Position it over the spiny processes of the upper back and apply gentle pressure to release tightness that may contribute to neck or back stiffness or tension headaches. **Q: what is it made of?** A: The Pocket Physio Max is made of Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE), a latex-free injection molded plastic. **Q: The product description says this weighs 7 oz. Is it really that light?** A: Yes it is light, but you will get it pulled by TSA for extra screening at the airport. At least it isn't a dildo. **Q: looking for something to fit into cervical knots, near scalp can I lay backwards with neck on it? will it hit those spots?** A: I should think you could. Depending on how far up you roll on it, it really comes to a point. I have the larger one. However, there is also a smaller one. BTW, I tried various balls, Rollga (curved) rollers, etc. for my myofascial pain. I cured a lot of my myofascial pain with nutritional supplements (Some of the supplements I take include ginger extract to calm digestion and Milk thistle extract (source of flavinoids; silymarin, the active ingredient in milk thistle extract, is a bunch of flavolignins, I believe); I also take diosmin / hesperidin and some quercetin (stay below 500 mg or so daily); these are all flavinoids, I believe / resveratrol; ORAC energy greens (full of plant stuff and - you guessed it flavinoids) and extra vitamin C (staying below 2000 mg daily) and a tblsp of hemp seed oil, and turmeric (all with proper stretching and exercise). Over time, I do much less trigger point work as the trigger points went away. However, I highly recommend the physiomax tool for when you do need to work a trigger point. Unlike balls, it is easier to keep in place for pressure. Also, reasonably priced.
