More than a bench it's a full workout in one piece of equipment
I ordered the Amazon Basics Flat Weight Bench because I needed something sturdy enough to handle real workouts yet practical enough to double as seating in my home gym. So far, it has done everything I wanted it to do and more. First, the versatility. I have used this bench for more exercises than I expected: chest press, push-ups, Bulgarian lunges, step-ups for leg work, sit-ups, and general seating between sets. For a flat bench with no moving parts, it genuinely supports a full-body workout without needing anything else. Second, the stability. The upside-down T-shaped legs keep this bench planted firmly on the floor, no matter what exercise I throw at it. Whether I am pressing weight or doing bodyweight movements, I never feel like the bench is going to shift or wobble underneath me. Third, the build quality. The steel frame and PVC-padded surface feel durable and solid. It does not feel like a budget piece of equipment. Downside: it is not adjustable, so if you are looking for incline or decline positions, this is not the bench for you. Storage is also a little tricky; it is not the easiest thing to move around when you need to free up floor space in a smaller room. Overall, if you want a sturdy, reliable flat bench that pulls double duty as workout equipment and extra seating, this one delivers exactly that. I would recommend it to anyone building out a home gym on a budget.

Perfect / affordable for bench if youโre not tall
Best flat bench you can buy for the money. Good size if youโre under under 6 feet tall. I wouldnโt rec if youโre tall. Bench is very solid. Doesnโt wobble. Light and easy to move around. Amazing bench for the price. Pro - affordable, comfy - light. Easy to move around in a home gym - solid / no wobbles - easy to assemble. Cons - if you put all your weight on the very very tip / edge of the bench, it will tip up. I had this happen while trying to use some free weights. If it was heavier. This wouldnโt happen. For the most part. Itโs a non issue. - not good for tall people. Your head will dangle off the edge when laying down.

Sturdy Bench/Good Height/Well-Made
I do dumbbell workouts at home; and the construction and dimensions of this bench are perfect. I'll explain: the height of the bench from floor to top of seat is 18 3/8"; when I sit on the bench the height is about an inch less given the seat's cushioning; the bench rests flat, no wobble, on my carpeted floor (this is not true of all benches). The construction is rock solid. I had a bench that cost about $110 and although well made, the seat was only 16" from floor to top of the seat and about an inch less when I sat on it. Sitting on the bench and getting off the bench was hard on my knees. But this Amazon Basics Bench is the 'right' height for working out. It's a great height for dips and cross-bench pullovers, too. Steel used in making this bench is of sufficient gauge to support weights and an adult male; and the components are accurately cut and welded. I saw where one reviewer commented about the vinyl pad not holding up. Well, if the pad's stitching/trim comes undone, I'd rather have it repaired or do it myself--the bench is that good. And the guy who commented on the bench seat may be an anomaly. I workout with my bench on the days on not doing standing exercises. So at least three days a week it's part of my workout. Regardless, this bench was 100% or of the box; and all parts, including bolts/washers/nuts, were on board. If Amazon wanted to improve the hardware, I'd suggest replacing the Phillips head bolts with stove or carriage bolts; and in place of the round holes at the base of the legs, punch a square opening to match the inner collar on the stove/carriage bolts, which prevents the head of the bolt from turning when the not is tightened. For me, this is a five-star bench for my at-home, dumbbell workouts. AmazonBasics Flat Weight Bench is an absolute bargain at $50. April 23, 2019: Three months into... this bench and I'm really pleased with it. The padding and the vinyl are as they were when I bough the bench. I use this six days a week: bench presses, flies, cross-bench pullovers, and dips. And I never place my weights on the bench, always on the floor or a makeshift table I have. I still find the height good for me. Also, the bench is perfectly stable when doing cross-bench pullovers, an exercise when other inexpensive benches can rock back-and-forth when getting into position; and it's as stable when doing the other bench work I do. I don't see any shortcomings after three months use. This is, from what I've learned while looking at other benches and from what I continue to see in places like the few sporting goods stores still around, an exceptional buy at 50 bucks. December 28, 2019 After nearly a year's use, this bench continues to perform. No breaks on the vinyl cover, stitching is as new--the bench looks as it did the day I brought it home. I'll check the lock nuts on the foot bars and, if necessary, I'll give them a little clockwise snug. I move the bench whenever I do a workout; and the lock nuts have loosened over the course of a year. I took out a 17mm socket for the foot-bar nuts, and 14mm for the seat nuts, now the entire bench is tight. Using a product like lock tight would have kept the nuts from loosening. July 03, 2021 -- Bought a second bench I gave my bench to a friend and waited for Amazon to restock so I could reorder another--and I'm not parting with this one! It came in today and although I was concerned if it would be the same quality, I'm pleased to say it is the same quality re materials, for, and finish. The new bench is its predecessor come full circle. Final word: it's the perfect component for a home gym. Note: the bench's weight limit is 385 pounds according to the enclosed literature.

Solid light duty bench with minor assembly issues
I just put this bench together for some home workouts while we are all on lockdown. Itโs fine for that purpose, but Iโm a intermediate lifter so the 385lb is right at my max for my typical workout. It certainly should get me through these tough times, but if you are an advanced luxury, this is too lightweight for you. The bench is simple to set upโjust blow off the sheet metal multi-tool and grab a Philips and a decent socket wrench and you can get it assembled in 5 minutes. Mine didnโt come with instructions for setup (this listing had a link for them instead) and a lot of the packaging had loosened to the point that half of the hardware was rattling around the box. However, everything was ultimately there and undamaged, and anyone with half a brain could set this up without the instructions anyway. With that said, the bench comes with flush mounting flat-head bolts for the feet, which is not the correct hardware for this application. Due to the design, the bolts canโt be flush-mounted, which leaves them 1/8 inch short to fully activate the locking nuts. It doesnโt compromise the functionality, but these will loosen up faster because of the lack of length. Even with the short bolts, the bench feels rock solid. Iโm guessing that the 385 weight limit is due to the wood backing to the top of the benchโit keeps it lightweight and cheap, but the trade is long term durability and capacity. Overall, Iโm happy with it, but Iโm dropping a star for the lack of instructions, packaging issues, and wrong hardware choice.

Quite happy with it
This serves my purpose well. I am 80 years old and just completed a course of physical therapy for lower back pains. It worked amazingly well. A lot of back problems stem from weak core and trunk muscles. My therapist used a combination of exercises in a warm water pool, with massage, stretching and exercises on dry land. One of the best sets of exercise, I couldn't do at home. They require a bench like this one for stretching and lifting legs over the bench that you can't do on normal home furniture. This bench works magnificently, and for $40, it's cheaper than anything I could find or build myself. A construction tip: Do not rely on the supplied end wrench to put it together. Unless you have steel fingers, you can't get enough grip to tighten the four 16mm nylon locking nuts. Buy or borrow a ratchet and 16mm socket or a 16mm end wrench. (A 3/8" ratchet drive and socket set will come in handy for many other things around the house.) And don't tighten the nut too far down. Turn just until 3 or 4 bolt threads are visible protruding above the nut. That gives you a tight connection without stressing the box-steel support piece too much.

If you need a basic workout bench, just get this one.
Don't open with a knife or box cutter! The packaging has the bench top facing top up and will likely get cut if you do. Wow, that's what I call a workout bench! This is a better bench than I've used in commercial gyms. It's notably wider, sturdier than most and more usefully, 141" long and 18" tall - a necessity if you're +6' tall. Amazon Basic can be a crap shoot for quality/value but this is a clear winner. Assembly was easy - one page of clear pictures, just four bolts, and includes the tools (really nice ones too, keepers!) All tube steel, encaps Packaging could be better but Kudos to Amazon for no sytrofoam used. The cable ties keeping everything together was loose, but the parts were plastic wrapped so no dings or scratches. The bag of tools/bolts/nuts had got a hole, but only one bolt was lose. Thankfully the box was taped up so well nothing was ever getting out. And that warning about no box cutters or knives to open the box, you have been warned. So, functional/passable on packaging. Assembly, it went together great. All the holes lined up, bolts, nuts, washers fit like a glove and went together quick and easy, 5mins. As for the negative reviews, seriously people?! Four bolts, precise cartoon instructions, but still use the wrong bolts in the wrong places, and take stars off the reviews? Either put on your glasses or put down the blunt. Also, if you like it old-school, dislike metric or don't 'get' nyloc nuts... it's 2022 not 1822. All the bolts were zinc plated tempered medium-carbon steel and way over sized. The frame's welds are heavy, and all powder paint coated after. Nothing is going to rust, snap, fail, or get wobbly over time. I have to wonder if some of these ridiculous negative reviews are shills/stooges for other brand benches.

Great for the price
Great flat bench for the price. Fits the needs of most people, light and sturdy. No problems with assembly and sits flat on the mat. If your benching enough to be worried about weight you're probably not looking at this anyway.

Excelente Producto
Llegรณ en muy buen estado. Es realmente estable. Yo peso 108 kilos y me sorprendiรณ su estabilidad.

Excelent Cost-Benefit ratio
Really hard to get a better flat bench for the price. It's kinda basic and light but it seems sturdier than it appears on the photos and is very VERY stable! 10/10 would buy it again if I was making a home gym on a budget.
