We had a 9 month old in it last summer and plan to use it again. It is very well made. I wouldn't leave a child in it without standing right next to them in the water. A very active child could lean forward and tip head first. It's made for babies to float, not learn to swim. The float was easy to inflate and deflate per each use. The canopy offered good sun protection and the float itself was sturdy for my 9-month old to hang out in (supervised, of course, but didn't feel like we needed two hands on the float all the time).
