I'm just coming out of a walking boot for an ankle fracture, and the padding is in the same place as the boot's air pockets. This is a great step down to get me back to normal mobilization.This padded feature and placement of the padding was a pleasant surprise. I wasn't aware of this and it's nice! That might explain why it's a little more expensive compared to others, but still a bit pricey for what it is.It is a bit tight to get on, especially with a sore ankle, but it quickly kind of settles in, stretches, and feels fine after a few minutes. I cannot fit this with a regular low sneaker, yet. The padding hits right at the top of my shoe and is actually a bit uncomfortable, but luckily it's summer and I'm able to wear other types of sandals.The material is thick but breathable. Overall construction and stitching is good.I still think it's a bit expensive for a padded half of a sock. I like to keep more than one of these so I can always have one clean. Being right on the mark with the sizing, I was at first skeptical of the level of compression that I felt and wondered if I should have ordered a size down, but realized after several minutes of idly wearing the sleeve that the ankle and foot pain I accrued on my shift last night was subsiding.The brace is of a simple construction, consisting of an elastic (and breathable) sleeve with a single seam on the back, and L-shaped silicone pads sewn in on both sides that cradle the ankle bones.
