Can it be painted or whitewashed?

I think so. I painted around a window to blend in with the bricks and some is on the bricks. I used indoor outdoor craft paint.

what kind of glue do you use?

As the instructions say,use a pvc compatible glue,it's right here on the Amazon listing

Are these heatt resistant? I would like to use them on the wall next to my stove

The wall panels are made from PVC plastic. PVC has a melting point of 185°F. I would say that these wall panels are not fire proof and should not be used next to a stove.
