The magnets on the pieces are extremely weak and barely stick to the board (obviously you don't want them to be too strong, but these are too far the other way). The board is very unresponsive when you press the pieces down to make a move, so much so that the whole thing bends under the force you have to use. However, the reason I'm returning the item is that it's impossible to fit all the pieces in the storage compartment. As for how it plays chess, who knows? I tried it briefly but it was too frustrating to complete a game.
