But only the cradle charges the probe. You have to use the app to see if probes can be detected and charge them if they aren’t. **Q: How far does this reach using wifi? Will I be able to use the app to see the temperature of my meat if I am 10 miles away?** A: You need to keep the hub pretty close to the smoker, or the thermometer. I have to set mine in a window about 10 feet away from my cook station. **Q: Can the probe be sealed inside a plastic bag and submerged underwater for cooking sous vide?** A: Antoin, I would seal it inside the vaccuum bag with the meat. But really I wouldn't bother with it for sous vide since the whole thing about sous vide (for me any way) is cooking/holding something a loooooonnnngggg time at a set temp. I don't really need to know when it got there, it's not precision cooktimes for me. if it took 2 hours vs 1 hour to get to temp, and then sat for 22 vs 23 hrs...
