This was the missing weapon in my arsenal. In my on going war with fungus gnats, this is the only spray i found that kills on contact, is safe to spray on plants, and doesn't require you to leave the room for a few hours after you spray it. Is this enough to take care of your gnat problem alone? probably not, but i don't think a single product will wipe out a bad gnat infestation. To do that, you need something for the soil (kill eggs/larva), passive methods to get the ones you don't see, and an active agent to let you kill the ones you can. I used mosquito bits and diatomaceous earth for the soil and yellow sticky traps and a blue light sticky traps for passive killing/catching the ones i don't see. However, i had the hardest time finding a kill-on-contact spray i can use in my office for the little buggers i see flying around instead of waiting for them to land in a trap. Most sprays can either be sprayed directly on the plant, but only every few days or weeks, so not good for the ones you see flying around in the mean time, or you could spray directly on bugs to kill on contact, but you have to leave the room to let it ventilate once you spray, and those shouldn't be sprayed on plants. Useless for fungus gnats since they mostly hang out on plants. This spray can be used repeatedly, doesn't harm plants, and doesn't require you to leave the room after using. No strong smell. Does kill on contact, but SHAKING MATTERS! I was originally disappointed when i sprayed some gnats and watched them wander around before flying off, but i realized i wasn't really shaking the spray (like the bottle says to do). Once i have it some good shakes, it only takes a small spritz for the bugs to drop dead.
