Review: Very Effective For Monitoring Your A-1C - I'm not diabetic but when getting the blood test results from the doctor I've been told a couple times during the past few years that I'm "pre-diabetic," meaning that if I continue on as I have been I "will be diabetic" at some point in the future. When taking a closer look at the blood test results for the past few years, I notice that I have been in the pre-diabetic zone all along (A-1C 5.7 or above), which some might say is normal for my age (73), yet there has been little mention of it from my doctor other than telling me that I'm not diabetic. I decided that being pre-diabetic is not at all good enough for me, and wanted to take a closer look on my own. So I found this testing device to be quite consistent in accuracy and has helped me to bring my A-1C down from the pre-diabetic range into the normal range. If the device does not seem accurate the user must remember to take the readings at least 2 hours after eating, and preferably after fasting for 12 hours (normal sleep time, not eating anything after 7pm) and take the reading in the morning before even having coffee or tea. Too soon after eating will result in a higher and non-accurate reading. It's also important to be well rested when taking the readings for the best accuracy. If a person is otherwise in reasonably good health but is in the pre-diabetic range, the A-1C can easily be brought into the normal range with improved diet (less carbs, which turn to sugar in the body). The device is easy and inexpensive to use. The test strips are about only 17 cents each. I keep a written record of the readings and the device shows a 14 day average.
Review: What a great kit - So I'm not diabetic but pre diabetic. I wanted to know which foods are causing problems with my blood sugar. My doctor told me to stay away from potatoes, pasta, breads, etc. yada yada yada... So I got a this glucose meter. You can learn to 'Eat to your meter'. What you do is eat a meal you normally would eat and two hours after, test yourself. Now I've been having a single thing like popcorn, then testing 2 hours later to find that it isn't a culprit. I can have oatmeal but not cereals like Cheerios. I can have potatoes, even fried potatoes but I can't have french fries. Even the ones you buy in store and heat yourself. I can have pasta too (Yay!) but no rice. This test kit is enough to give you a great start to a list of foods that you personally should stay away from. It's easy to use (my first time using a glucose meter and it was easy peasy for me), and pretty accurate. You basically have 100 tests in this one kit. For some people, that's enough to give them a good diary full of foods that they may have thought they couldn't/shouldn't have when they actually can. The price is right too. IT'S SCIENCE FOLKS! I found it quite fun really. I kept a good food diary and I've been able to lower my A1C even more now. If you do have diabetes and need a glucose meter, this is a great option. A good thing too is that the test strips don't cost an arm and a leg. The meter records things too. I pretty much recorded on my tablet what I found out and my numbers but this little meter with the big numbers that even I can read, has a memory so you can record on the meter itself your numbers and even notate those readings and meals that worked well. Great glucose meter folks. You can't beat the price. It's accurate and easy. What more could you want?

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is it accurate**
A: To my awareness and experience, I don’t think it is accurate at all. I bought this a month ago just because my old meter is too old and hard to find strips. I bought this and found that I couldn’t find its control solution anywhere so I requested return. Amazon gave my money back and also told me to keep the meter. So I used it for 3 days. Those 3 days, my fast morning number indicated I’m diabetic! (All above 100). So, I’m now diabetic after I used the new meter? And my post meal numbers also were so higher. It just hard to believe that I became diabetic right along with new meter. So, now I ordered strips for my old meter even tho it is harder to find and cost little more but I want to compare my result to this meter. With my old meter, numbers seem to make sense, accurate and consistent. I monitor my numbers daily for a month and I just had my a1C blood work so I know that I’m not currently diabetic.

**Q: Is this a full kit, or is there something else I need?**
A: You need glucose control solution and alcohol swabs. Mine came with batteries. No guidance for what control solution to purchase though, that would have been helpful!

**Q: Batterys included**
A: Yes, there were 2 batteries included in mine (it needs 2 to operate).

**Q: Are there batteries in this Meter?**
A: Batteries come with this meter. You will need to insert them.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Simple, well designed, does the job
*by D***D on October 7, 2021*

I wanted a simple to use blood glucose meter with minimal pain lancer. When searching through my choices on Amazon it seemed to me that all the meters were pretty much the same, but the big differentiator is the lancing device - after all that’s what you use to prick your finger. As I read the various meter descriptions they all focused on their test strips, lance tips and meters - blah, blah, blah all the same, but almost nothing on the lancing device that was considered an almost afterthought of no importance. I only found a small number of kits that clearly recognized the importance of the lancing device and had designed it with the user in mind, and took the time to demonstrate its construction and ease of use, even including videos of how it worked. It came down to a choice of two competing products for me and I picked the CareTouch kit. When it arrived I was happy with the packaging and took it all apart, set up the meter and reach all the instructions on how to use the lancing device. It seemed simple enough but when I took a closer look at the plunging mechanism I was so disappointed- I thought to myself - this doesn’t work, when I test pressed the plunger it seemed to be too short and the needle didn’t even reach the end of the protective cap. But why were there so many good reviews if the design was all wrong ? Just to be sure I then plugged in a lancet needle, touched the protective cap lightly against my finger and pressure the button - blood ! Amazing, I barely felt the prick and it was so fast. Isn’t that what matters - nothing is painless but this lancing device with my new best friend, the Care Touch Blood Glucose meter kit gets close. I’m really happy with my purchase of this test meter and recommend it to others that need a simple to use meter and test strips, along with a remarkably fast and easy lancing device.
