Follow the instructions on the package. When installing any command strip, I go a little farther and SCRUB the area with a microfiber cloth and rubbing alcohol, then buff dry with a dry microfiber cloth. Leave it to dry a little longer, then start the install steps. **Do Not Buy the Used ones, even if it says "like new". I did that initially and received a clearly used, dirty item that was missing the adhesive strips. The second one was bent and missing adhesive strips.
