Dry rod tool - a bit pricey but advised
Does what they say in the dry rod system. Cuts clean and accurate rods for insertion into drilled mortar holes. Length of cutter is just right for the recommended spacing of holes -120 mm. Bit pricey for what it is and you could get away with a Stanley knife and ruler in all honesty but good confidence that you won't deform the rod with this tool and a good fit in the hole is necessary to make the damp get to the rod and start the reaction off. Great while it worked but over priced and over rated IMHO
It’s expensive for what it is. When it works, it’s very good but…. I made about 10 cuts overall with mine and then it stuck shut. To be honest, a sharp Stanley knife is just as effective. No issues with crushing the rods at all. If your knife is crushing rather than cutting, try a new blade in it. and slice not press. Returned my Rod Cutter without issue.

Effective tool, tried without first but found this worth having
For the first dry rod project I undertook I thought I could save money by cutting the rods down with a sharp knife. I found this surprisingly difficult, and the same with scissors. The problem is the rods are actually surprisingly tough.I bought this tool for a subsequent dry rod project and found that it cuts the dry rods down to size effortlessly - giving a very clean cut i’m saving a great deal of time (and mess).You don’t have to cut rods down if using in a solid brick wall (9”), but for single leaf walls or cavity walls etc you’ll need to cut rods down. Therefore you have any cutting to do at all I’s highly recommend not being without this tool.

Bad blade quality
Not a good product, the blade to cut the rods is very fragile. It broke off after cutting 3 rods. Had to cut the rest of them using a Stanley knife which worked better than this tool.
