It took about 4 days for us to see anything, and they looked like black specks (not white dots) so we'd given up hope. but we kept aerating, and took the lid off each day for an hour or two. Didn't feed until I was sure they'd hatched. Now we have a hundred or so, 2 and half weeks later. Couldn't see them without a magnifying glass for the first week. We feed every second day, they're fascinating creatures and the kids love them. Within 1 day we had a tank full of tiny sea monkeys (as they were called when I was a child in the 80's). Surely you can't keep them in the same water forever?** A: We haven't changed the water but just topped up as it evaporated. As long as you don't overfeed the water seems to stay clear and doesn't smell. We still have ours six months later. Looks underwhelming and a little small and cheap to give as a gift which is what I was planning. Little disappointed .
