It's a opamp in a metal box, not plastic and it has 10x 20dB gain which gives you the flexibility to adjust levels elsewhere to avoid noise and distortion with mismatched equipment. I love it!

**Q: Are all the output jacks amplified output, or do the outputs on the back provide line-level audio and the phones output on the front is amplified?**
A: I would say yes, but that’s not what I’m using it for

**Q: Does this have riaa eq or is it a flat preamp?**
A: Unfortunately it’s a flat preamp.

**Q: Plugging it from headphone jack on tv to bigger speaker in my van and it sounds bad when i turn it up a little. Any ideas?**
A: It sounds like the output might be too high (amps) even though the sound isn’t that great. You could try to change the combination of settings until you find one that sounds better i.e. turn the tv volume down and the preamp output up or vice a versa until you get a combination that sounds better

**Q: What type of pin or plug fits into the ground hole?**
A: There are no dedicated ground 'holes'. ground is either the other ring of the female RCA connectors or the ground position of the stereo minijack (3.5mm).

This little box isn't a phono preamp, it doesn't do RIAA equalisation. Amazon should tidy up the webpage and make things clear. It's a opamp in a metal box, not plastic and it has 10x 20dB gain which gives you the flexibility to adjust levels elsewhere to avoid noise and distortion with mismatched equipment. I love it!

The external speakers I'd attached to my PC were ok but just need a little more 'umph'. I didn't want to spend a fortune so read the reviews on this preamp and decided to give it a go. Simple to install and did exactly what I wanted. Brilliant sound with the amp set at only 50%. Don't know what it would be like on some 'heavier' equipment but did the job for me. Highly recommend.

I use it as headphone-out with some of my ham-radios. Works very well, good sound, very well made, has a good finish, no cheap shortcuts! Fells sturdy and looks good. I consider this very good value for money! Recommended!
