It saved my fingers. **Q: Will this work with both Mandolins thats 5.7 wide and thats 5 wide?** A: Since it's basically a holder for the item you're slicing, I think it would work with most mandolins. The safety holder is 6" wide, so according to your width measurement it would fit your mandolin. **Q: how is this holder different than another holder, same company, that is sold in orange and white and is sold by Amazon for $9.99?** A: The color. This one is white. The other one is orange. They serve the same purpose. **Q: How well does it handle carrots?** A: I use the peeled baby carrots and can slice them fine.
