However, the stick holding the rings is smooth. It diesn't screw into the base as other toys of this kind do, so the whole toy is less stable for stacking. This seems like a real design flaw.My 1 year old granddaughter likes using the stick to pound on the other pieces, and she pulls it out of the stack so she can push the rings down. She doesn't think it's a design flaw.Babies enjoy picking up the rings and putting their fingers through them, stacking and pushing them down and stacking them again. The rings are different colors and each one has a number on it, too. It is smooth wood and brightly colored just the right size for a baby's hands. is all comes apart even the stacking pole which makes it safer for the baby, he cant fall over on a stiff stick attached to the base. It also has numbers so we can learn colors and counting while playing. He has been playing with it for about a month and he is a 1 year old.
