Review: Great addition for cast iron pan users - I have two cast iron frying pans and a griddle pan. I love using these because the results turn out so good, however as any cast iron user will know, the pans become impossible to pick up without something like an oven glove. Well this little silicon holder fixes that. It gets hottish when a pan has been left on the hob to get hot, but it's easily manageable, i.e. you can pick it up. It's quite large so will slide on to a handle, although not so large that if I've left it until the pan is hot to put it in place, I need something to hold the opposite edge of the pan so that the holder will slide on. The only slight warning I'd offer is that often cast iron pans do not appear to generally have long handles, and this holder is obviously designed to cater for the longest. This means that there's a small danger that if you don't pick up the pan well towards the pan edge, i.e. where the handle is inside the holder, you could end up not holding on to much of the handle. I'm aware of this so it's never happened to me and I'm more than happy that I can now use my pans without having to remember to put on an oven glove every time I want to touch them.

**Q: Is this longer than the actual handle for 10.5" skillet?**
A: My skillet is approx. 10". It was too long for the handle and MUCH too loose. I would have been fine with it being too long IF it had fit somewhat securely. I cut off the end (about an inch) so it would not be too long, and then used it to move my hot cast iron pan to the sink to wash with hot water and my chainmail steel thing. I was holding it as firmly as I could, but the pan SLIPPED OUT of the jacket (the first time I used it) and had there been anything breakable just beneath it in the sink, it would have been broken or shattered. I would recommend this only for the LARGEST skillets -- and even then you won't know for sure until you use it, because it is very roomy within.

**Q: Can I leave this on when it's on the oven?**
A: If you leave it on, it will get hot just like the pan.  Use it on the pan to take out of oven and to protect from grabbing hot handles once the pan has been removed from the oven.

**Q: Would this possibly slip over an old Revere ware coffee pot handle to protect it when I'm using it on a campfire?**
A: They didn't fit my pan handles, so I gave them to friends.  HOWEVER, just from a practical point, I personally would NOT use them on a campfire.

**Q: Can this holder be used on GreenPan Skillets pans?**
A: I am not sure but it is plenty big and fits all of my different long handled skillets

Well this little silicon holder fixes that. It gets hottish when a pan has been left on the hob to get hot, but it's easily manageable, i.e. you can pick it up. Great little handle cover, though make sure you measure properly so it fits the pan you want it for. I didnt measure and found it a bit big for the pan i need it for, but it fits on a completely different pan handle perfectly- so all worked out well! Id recommend *not* keeping it on the handle of cast iron pans while cooking, as it will get warm. Put it on when youre ready to move it. Silly I know, but thats what ive found.
