The size is quite convenient and smaller than the porro prism alternative. They are a little heavier than I expected, but they are fine for what I use them for. The caps are excellent, especially in comparison to the Nikon series. I tried the Nikon's initially and the caps just fell out of the objective sockets.On these, image is very clear and clean. There is some barely noticeable purple fringing around certain features during bright daytime viewing, as well as some light spherical distortion which is apparent when panning, but neither to any extent that bothers me in the slightest. The field of view is nice and wide, and the eye relief and exit pupil is a major upgrade from the 10x32's I've been using. I have been using these partly as astronomy observation binoculars and they are just what I've been looking for. I can see a lot of detail in the sky.My chief complaint is minor but is regarding the objective lens caps, whose stretchy retention ring (should stay permanently affixed to the outside diameter of each objective's housing) is not tight enough to hold itself on. I solved the problem by wrapping a zip tie over each of these bands and tightening it such that it can never slip off. Someday, functional lens caps on binoculars will arrive, but apparently not too soon. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Remember those really great binoculars we took to Alaska? *by Z***S on Reviewed in the United States on December 1, 2015* These binoculars are great! I bought them for my Mother's bucket list trip to Alaska to view the glaciers, wilderness, wildlife etc. The clarity and detail was spectacular, all the way to the edge of the field of view! The binoculars were very popular for this trip, and have been quite useful at home and traveling locally as I like to pull the car over often and do a little bird watching. (Eagles are very grand!)I especially like that the thumb pads have a soft (padded) quality that eases the grip from that naturally excited viewer behind the lens. However, the front lens covers have a rubber ring that keeps the lens caps from falling off and getting lost when that excited viewer wants a quick look. These rings seem to be more of a hinderance. I'm not too keen on the rubber rings, but not a deal-breaker for me.... If I had to do it all over again, I would purchase them again. Definitely Recommend. Enjoy your trip! Make (clear, crisp) memories! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great optics. Possible lens cap fix. *by M***R on Reviewed in the United States on March 14, 2015* Great optics. I'm glad I purchased the 8X instead of the 10X. Even the 8X is a little hard for me to keep steady when trying to resolve fine details at a distance. I like the weight and size.I deducted one star for the oft-complained-of front lens cap retainer rings and the small case. The retainer rings pull off with almost no pressure. Just picking up the binoculars with the lens caps off results in the rings falling off the barrel. I was ready to get out the rubber cement, but discovered that you can wrap a tight rubber band just in front of the retainer rings and problem solved, at least temporarily. The case could have been 2 cm larger. As it is now, you have to really stuff the binoculars into the case if you've attached the neck strap.
